Si nosaltres no posseïm

Si nosaltres no posseïm

la frescor de l’aire,

ni la lluïssor de l’aigua,

com ens ho podreu comprar?

“We do not own the freshness of the air or the sparkle of the water, so how can you buy them from us?”

In 1855 the President of the United States, Franklin Pierce, wrote to Chief Seattle with an offer from the government to buy his people’s land. The lines I include here were in his reply (supposedly).

Salut!”

M’ha fet molta il·lusió i l’he respòs efusivament.

(nota: l’enllaç al relat del surfari a Mèxic l’he afegit jo)

life is good

Things are looking pretty good these days. Great plans, nice work (preparing for a class I gotta teach this coming week) and surfing! : )

I got some great news a few days ago. It looks like I’ll engage in an extremely exciting project this summer (June-August). I’ll talk about it more in a few days.

Because of that project (ehem), I’ll extend my trip to California, which was meant to be one month-long this Spring, and now it’s gonna be just over 2 months-long. Poor me… what will I do in Santa Cruz for such a long time!

The truth is, I’m dying to get there… I took this picture in London, because it made me think of SC:

There have been waves this week in Catalunya. I had a great session on Friday and two very good sessions on Saturday. My left shoulder is a bit sore, but nothing to worry about.

Otherwise,

I feel great.

In every sense.

London: curious things seen on this trip

bagel has changed pronounciations over time and this shop is so old that that linguistic fact is reflected on the signs!
