new projects
June 21, 2009
We are leaving for Iquitos tomorrow in a charter little boat. Our work on the Abecedario or little alphabet booklet for Katsakati couldn’t be finished today, so we’ll finalize in Iquitos and send the copies upriver with someone Lev and Chris know.
The new projects I will take part in involve two different Arawak languages, kakinte (caquinte) and matsigenga (machiguenga).
Website by the Kakinte people (in Spanish). Main page, with an English option.
Ramon is leaving us on Monday for Lima and the US. Lev and Chris are flying on Tuesday, and I’m following them on Wednesday (no seats left on their flight). I hear Iquitos is a very nice place –and one where you can find anything (it’s a middle sized city)– so hanging out there for an extra few hours sounds like fun :)
