Translation work: I had to turn down a job today because this agency I’ve never worked for yet wanted me to do a mid to long sized translation in 1.5 days and the pay is not too good (that seems to be a trend). I would have still taken it for the money and challenge, but it turns out I have a phone interview tomorrow and I want to concentrate on that now. I am hoping they’ll consider my services in the future despite having declined the first job they offered.

The good thing about the situation above is that I finally decided to do something about getting some translation memory software to make my work easier. Yay!

Metanote: I forgot to create a post announcing the change of look of this blog. Really, the only thing I did is change the “theme” to Blix so that Exploring Life is more consistent with most of my other blogs, martapiqs a california , martapiqs a nicaragua (martapiqs a portugal is on Blogger, so it’s different). Oh, and I added a custom photo in the header. It is from the Amazon.

Nova pàgina

Acabo de penjar una nova pàgina titulada “This blog / aquest blog”. En trobareu la pestanyeta d’accés a dalt a la dreta de la pantalla : )

So… what have we got here?

Exploring Life is my second blog, I guess.

My first blog was devoted to Portugal(*)

and I think it worked out pretty well…

my parents were loyal readers, anyway…

so I’ll continue to blog : )

 WILL AND WILL NOT

• I will not be writing every day.
• I will not usually debate philosophical or political issues worthy of much discussion outside of here. Instead:
• I will talk about whatever is relevant to me at the time I’m writing, or whatever I feel like sharing with other people, i.e. a potential reader -which might not match with what is most relevant to me on a given day!
• Yes, I’m too shy to write about anything and everything here.

 

I think that, for the most part, I will either write a couple of paragraphs on the fly, or I will cut and paste things I’ve written in other places, such as emails or short essays. I will most likely accompany my texts with pictures, which may be contemporary to the words or not. Finally I will, as much as possible, use the tools available here to link my words to relevant stuff online, such as video or audio files and, needless to say, pictures.

(*) I started my Portuguese blog (in English and Catalan) less than two months ago to write about my trip to the Azores and mainland Portugal this summer, so that I wouldn’t bore my friends and relatives with mass e-mails and tons of pictures on Flickr. There, I posted notes only every now and then, and I selected a very limited number of pictures, thus reducing visualization time a lot for those who are too busy with work or those who are on vacation not willing to spend too much time in front of their computers.
